Choosing a Proxy

Choosing the right proxy is crucial for optimizing performance, ensuring anonymity, and meeting specific requirements. Here are key considerations to guide your selection.

Default Proxy Selection

While the default proxy may offer convenience, it might not align with your specific needs. Assess your requirements to determine if an alternative proxy would be more suitable.

Geographic Proximity

Selecting a proxy server close to your location or the target site's location can significantly reduce latency. For instance, if you're accessing data from a European website, choosing a European proxy can enhance connection speed and reliability. ProxyMesh offers a variety of proxy server locations to accommodate such needs.

Access to Multiple Proxies

For high-traffic projects or to distribute requests, utilizing multiple proxies is beneficial. Upgrading your subscription plan can provide access to additional proxy locations. For example, the ProxyMesh 50 plan offers access to five rotating proxy locations, totaling 100 IP addresses per day. On higher-tier plans, you can also add extra proxies for an additional fee.

If you're accessing proxies through a web browser, you can make a custom PAC file in order use multiple proxies. For developers, we have some examples in Python as a reference for using multiple proxies.

Anonymity Levels

Consider the level of anonymity required for your tasks. ProxyMesh offers Level 1 Elite proxies, which provide the highest level of anonymity by removing all identifying headers, ensuring your requests cannot be traced back to you.

Bandwidth and Concurrent Connections

Evaluate your bandwidth needs and the number of concurrent connections your project demands. ProxyMesh proxies support up to 100 concurrent connections per IP address. If your project requires more, distributing requests across multiple proxies or upgrading your plan can help manage the load effectively. See our doc on High-Traffic Proxy Connections for more on this.

How to Change your Proxy

From your account dashboard, scroll down to the Edit Proxies button, shown below. Click that to go to a page where you can choose which proxies you want access to. After you save your changes, you should see green checks in the 2nd column of the proxy table on your dashboard.
